Pre-service Song
Holy (1 Samuel 2:2)
There’s none holy like the Lord;
There is none beside You.
There is no fortress like our God,
Who was and is and is to come.
The beginning and the end,
Son of God, son of man.
There is no one like You Lord, so holy.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord.
All glory, glory, glory to the Lord Almighty.
So worthy, we give you all the praise
Oh, lamb of God, You’re holy.
There’s none holy like the Lord;
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty.
Worthy, worthy, worthy, Of all the praise and glory.
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty.
Worthy, worthy, worthy, Of all the praise and glory.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord.
All glory, glory, glory to the Lord Almighty.
So worthy, we give you all the praise
Oh, lamb of God, You’re holy.

Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.
Our Spoken Call to Worship
Psalm 24:7-10 (ESV)
Lift up your heads, O gates!
And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The LORD, strong and mighty,
The LORD, mighty in battle!
Lift up your heads, O gates!
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of hosts,
He is the King of glory!

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.
Our Spoken Confession
The Great Litany & Franklin Kyrie
O, Lord, our God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
we are aware of the sins we have not put to death,
we feel the weakness of our flesh and our need of grace.
Remember that we are dust, and hear us we pray:
Lord, have mercy / Christ, have mercy. / Lord, have mercy, have mercy, Lord.
Lord, deliver your church from hardness of heart
from all false doctrine, heresy, and schism,
from contempt of your Word and your will.
Remember that we are dust, and hear us we pray:
Lord, have mercy / Christ, have mercy. / Lord, have mercy, have mercy, Lord.
Lord, we pray for President Biden and Vice President Harris,
and for the United States Congress,
for Governor Reynolds and the State Legislature,
for Mayor Haila and the Ames City Council,
and for all leaders, both global and local.
Remember that they are dust, and hear us we pray:
Lord, have mercy / Christ, have mercy. / Lord, have mercy, have mercy, Lord.
Lord, in our success and in our failure,
in our wealth and in our poverty,
in our living and in our dying,
in our time of tribulation and of poverty,
remember that we are dust, and hear us we pray:
Lord, have mercy / Christ, have mercy. / Lord, have mercy, have mercy, Lord.
Heavenly Father, we ask all these things
in name of Jesus our Lord and on the basis of
his perfect life—our righteousness;
his death—our sacrifice for sin;
his resurrection—our hope of glory;
his ascension—our intercession.
Through your Holy Spirit, be with us and dwell in us.
Remember that we are dust, and hear us we pray:
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy, have mercy, Lord.
Christ, have mercy. Christ have mercy. Christ have mercy, have mercy, Lord.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord have mercy, have mercy, Lord.
Time of silent confession.
Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.
Remember the Gospel
Colossians 1:13-16, 19-20 (CSB)
Remember the Gospel!
The Father has rescued us from the domain of darkness
and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.
In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For everything was created by him,
in heaven and on earth,
the visible and the invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities –
all things have been created through him and for him.
For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,
and through him to reconcile everything to himself,
whether things on earth or things in heaven,
by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Our Sung Profession of Assurance
How Great is Our God
The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty,
Let all the earth rejoice, all the earth rejoice.
He wraps Himself in light, and darkness tries to hide,
And trembles at his voice, trembles at his voice.
Chorus
How great is our God, sing with me,
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God.
And age to age He stands, and time is in His hands,
Beginning and the end, beginning and the end.
The Godhead, three in one: Father, Spirit, Son,
The Lion and the Lamb, the Lion and the Lamb. (Chorus)
Name above all names,
Worthy of all praise,
My heart will sing
How great is our God. (Repeat)
How great is our God, sing with me,
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God.

Thanksgiving and Petition
We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.
We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.
On the first Sunday of each month we have a Mission Moment to highlight the different missions giving
opportunities we have at Grand. Members are encouraged to give to GABC Missions to support these missions.
You may give electronically at gabcames.org/giving/ or place your offering in the boxes at the back of the sanctuary or send a check in the mail.
Scripture Reading
Matthew 17:1-13 (ESV)
1And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was
transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.
3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. 4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 5 He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”
6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. 7 But Jesus came and
touched them, saying, “Rise, and have no fear.” 8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
9 And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”
10 And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?” 11 He
answered, “Elijah does come, and he will restore all things. 12 But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.
This is the word of the Lord.
The grass withers and the flower falls
but the word of the Lord endures forever.

Sending
Having heard and confessed the Gospel, we are sent into the world on mission in Christ, which we express in both song and spoken word.
Sending Song
All Glory Be to Christ
Should nothing of our efforts stand,
No legacy survive
Unless the Lord does raise the house,
In vain its builders strive.
To you who boast tomorrow’s gain,
Tell me what is your life
A mist that vanishes at dawn,
All glory be to Christ!
Chorus
All glory be to Christ our king!
All glory be to Christ!
His rule and reign we’ll ever sing,
All glory be to Christ!
His will be done, His kingdom come,
On earth as is above
Who is Himself our daily bread,
Praise Him the Lord of love.
Let living water satisfy
The thirsty without price
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
All glory be to Christ! (Chorus)
When on the day the great I Am,
The faithful and the true
The Lamb who was for sinners slain,
Is making all things new,
Behold our God shall live with us
And be our steadfast light
And we shall e’re his people be,
All glory be to Christ! (Chorus)
