Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Call to Worship

Psalm 146
1Praise the LORD! Praise the Lord, O my soul!

2I will praise the LORD as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

3Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
4When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.

5Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,
6who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever;
7who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.

The LORD sets the prisoners free; 8the LORD opens the eyes of the blind.

The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous.

9The LORD watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

10The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD!

TIME OF REFLECTION TO PREPARE OUR HEARTS FOR WORSHIP

Our Sung Call to Worship

Rejoice The Lord Is King

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Confession
Based on Psalm 146

Kind and Gracious God, Our Faithful King—
We confess that we have often failed to praise you as our King:

We have sought our security in earthly kingdoms.
We have put our trust in mortal rulers who cannot save us.
We have not delighted in your reign.

We have not loved our neighbors as you have loved us;

We have failed to be faithful friends.
We have not sought justice for the oppressed.
We have not fed the hungry.
We have not cared for the prisoner.
We have neglected the sick.
We have not defended the rights of those who are easily oppressed.

Left to reign over our own hearts, we would stand condemned.

Reign over our hearts—forgiving us and renewing us—so that we might delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name.

TIME OF SILENT CONFESSION

Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Profession of Assurance

Remember the Gospel
Based on John 1:12 & Philippians 1:6

Though we were born slaves to sin, death, and the power of the devil, we have Good News:

Almighty God sent his Son Jesus to be our King.
He died for our sins, conquered the grave, and triumphed over Satan.

To those who believe in Jesus Christ he gives the right to become the children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit.

May the Lord, who has begun this good work in us, bring it to completion in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanksgiving and Petition

We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.

We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.

Jesus What A Friend For Sinners

Scripture Reading
We hear the scripture text of the sermon read.

Colossians 3:1-4

1If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
