Pre-service Song
Sons and Daughters

Before He spoke creation,
the God of Heaven knew our names.
Formed in His reflection,
we are His glory on display.

And His heart is good.
He is always kind.
With a cross He proved
He is on my side.

We are the sons, we are the daughters of God.
No matter where we go we’re close to the Father’s heart.
And though we stumble He will not let us fall.
We are the Lord’s and He will never forsake His own.
We are the sons, we are the daughters of God.

His love He lavished on us
and called us children of the King.
And in His lovingkindness,
He chose the lowly and the weak.

When the lies speak louder than the truth,
remind me I belong to You.
When I can’t see past the dark of night,
remind me You’re always by my side. (Repeat)

We are the sons, we are the daughters of God.
No matter where we go we’re close to the Father’s heart.
And though we stumble He will not let us fall.
We are the Lord’s and He will never forsake His own.
We are the sons, we are the daughters of God.

Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Call to Worship
Isaiah 55:1-3, 6-7 (CSB)

Come, everyone who is thirsty, come to the waters;
and you without money, come, buy, and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk without money and
without cost!

Why do you spend money on what is not food,
and your wages on what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
and you will enjoy the choicest of foods.

Pay attention and come to Me;
listen, so that you will live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
the promises assured to David.

Seek the Lord while He may be found;
call to Him while He is near.
Let the wicked one abandon his way,
and the sinful one his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord,
so He may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for He will freely forgive.

Our Sung Call to Worship
Give Me Jesus

In the morning when I rise,
In the morning when I rise,
In the morning when I rise,
Give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus,
Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world
Give me Jesus.

And when I am alone,
And when I am alone,
And when I am alone,
Give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus,
Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world
Give me Jesus.

O when I come to die,
O when I come to die,
O when I come to die,
Give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus,
Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world
Give me Jesus.

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Confession
Romans 7:18-25 (ESV)

For I know that nothing good dwells in me,
that is, in my flesh.
For I have the desire to do what is right,
but not the ability to carry it out.

For I do not do the good I want,
but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.
Now if I do what I do not want,
it is no longer I who do it,
but sin that dwells within me.

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right,
evil lies close at hand.
For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being,
but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive
to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

Wretched man that I am!
Who can deliver me from this body of death?
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind,
but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

Time of silent confession.

Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Remember the Gospel
1 Corinthians 15:20-22, 56-58 (ESV)

Remember the Gospel!

In fact Christ has been raised from the dead,
the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast,
immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Our Sung Profession of Assurance
Thanks Be to God (Distribution Song)

I want to do good, but I can’t stay right.
The wrong in me came out tonight.
Waging war against the law of my mind.
I’m a wretched man in a losing fight.

Thanks be to God who delivers me.
Thanks be to God who delivers me.
Christ, Christ alone come and set me free.
Thanks be to God who delivers me.

I love the truth, I’ve seen the light.
But the shadow inside is still alive.
I am the battle field, I am the fight.
Who will heal me from these wounds I hide?

Thanks be to God who delivers me.
Thanks be to God who delivers me.
Christ, Christ alone come and set me free.
Thanks be to God who delivers me.

Thanks be to God who delivers me.
Thanks be to God who delivers me.
Christ, Christ alone come and set me free.
Thanks be to God who delivers me.

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper

Christ our Hope in Life and Death

What is our hope in life and death?
Christ alone, Christ alone.
What is our only confidence?
That our souls to him belong.
Who holds our days within his hand?
What comes, apart from his command?
And what will keep us to the end?
The love of Christ, in which we stand.

Chorus
O sing hallelujah!
Our hope springs eternal;
O sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death.

What truth can calm the troubled soul?
God is good, God is good.
Where is his grace and goodness known?
In our great Redeemer’s blood.
Who holds our faith when fears arise?
Who stands above the stormy trial?
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh
Unto the shore, the rock of Christ? (Chorus)

Unto the grave, what will we sing?
“Christ, he lives! Christ, he lives!”
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with him.
There we will rise to meet the Lord,
Then sin and death will be destroyed,
And we will feast in endless joy,
When Christ is ours forevermore. (Chorus)

Thanksgiving and Petition

We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.

We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.

On the first Sunday of each month we have a Mission Moment to highlight the different missions giving
opportunities we have at Grand. Members are encouraged to give to GABC Missions to support these missions.

You may give electronically at gabcames.org/giving/ or place your offering in the boxes at the back of the sanctuary or send a check in the mail.

Scripture Reading
Matthew 15:21-28 (ESV)
21 And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.” 23 But he did not answer her a word.
And his disciples came and begged him, saying,
“Send her away, for she is crying out after us.”
24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” 26 And he
answered, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” 27 She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” 28 Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly.

This is the word of the Lord.
The grass withers and the flower falls
but the word of the Lord endures forever.

Sending
Having heard and confessed the Gospel, we are sent into the world on mission in Christ, which we express in both song and spoken word.

Sending Song
‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”

Chorus
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
Just in simple faith to plunge me
‘Neath the healing, cleansing flood! (Chorus)

Yes, ‘tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace. (Chorus)

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end (Chorus)

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more.
