Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Call to Worship
From Revelation 4:8 (ESV)

Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
who was and is and is to come!

Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.

Our Sung Call to Worship
Holy, Holy, Holy

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Confession
Based on 1 Peter 1:17; Matthew 15:6; James 1:3, 9; Mark 8:28; 1 Timothy 1:8;
1 Peter 3:14-15; Ephesians 5:18; 4:30;
1 Thessalonians 5:19-21

How have we sinned against God the Father?
We have called on him as Father
but have not conducted ourselves with reverence.

We have made his word void for the sake of our traditions.

We have blessed him with the same tongues
we use to curse those made in his likeness.

How have we sinned against God the Son?
We have been ashamed of Jesus and of his words.

We have been ashamed of the testimony about Jesus
and have not shared in suffering for the Gospel.

We have not honored Christ the Lord as holy,
but have feared human opponents.

How have we sinned against God the Spirit?
We have not been filled with the Holy Spirit,
but intoxicated ourselves and lived recklessly.

We have grieved the Holy Spirit,
using corrupting talk to tear down our neighbor,
clinging to bitterness, anger, slander and malice,
and not forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave us.

We have quenched the Spirit,
despising prophecies and not holding to what is good.

TIME OF SILENT CONFESSION

Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.
Remember the Gospel
Responsive reading based on John 3:16, Galatians 1:4; 2:20; Romans 8:34, 1 Corinthians 3:16; Galatians 4:6, 5:25; 2 Timothy 1:14; 2 Corinthians 3:6, 1:20-21

What has God the Father done for us?
God loved the world in this way:
He gave his one and only Son
so that everyone who believes in him
will not perish but have eternal life.

What has God the Son done for us?
The Son of God loved us
and gave himself for our sins
to deliver us from the present evil age.
And, more than that, he rose from the dead
and is now at the right hand of God
interceding on our behalf.

What has God the Holy Spirit done for us?
The Holy Spirit dwells in us,
bearing witness to us about Jesus,
causing us to understand the good news,
giving new life and assuring us of our adoption,
empowering us to be ministers of the New Covenant,
and sealing us for the day of redemption.

Where do we go to receive all this salvation?
All the promises of God find their “Yes” in Jesus.

Thanksgiving and Petition

We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.

We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.
On the first Sunday of each month we have two offerings—one for the general fund and a second one for the benevolence ministry of our church.

You may give electronically at gabcames.org/giving/.

Scripture Reading
Psalm 119:113-120
Samekh

113 I hate the double-minded,
but I love your law.
114 You are my hiding place and my shield;
I hope in your word.
115 Depart from me, you evildoers,
that I may keep the commandments of my God.
116 Uphold me according to your promise, that I may live,
and let me not be put to shame in my hope!
117 Hold me up, that I may be safe
and have regard for your statutes continually!
118 You spurn all who go astray from your statutes,
for their cunning is in vain.
119 All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross,
therefore I love your testimonies.
120 My flesh trembles for fear of you,
and I am afraid of your judgments.

This is the Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!
