Take an Easter Challenge!

One of the purposes for writing blogs of book recommendations is to strengthen our discipleship and evangelism. I know some of you are looking for good books to read, and I want to help with that, too. The book I want to recommend in this blog is titled The Christian Gospel by Tony Payne.

This is a very short book, only 81 pages, but in these 81 pages, Tony Payne unpacks the gospel to both believers and unbelievers (those to whom perhaps you are sharing the gospel). This little book will give new believers and old believers a refresher on the content of the gospel.

Probably one of its best uses is for evangelism. If you know someone with whom you would like to share the gospel and you would like a book to read to guide the conversation, then this is the book. The beauty of Payne’s book is that it has more content than a gospel tract and yet doesn’t overwhelm the reader with technical terms. It unpacks the message of the person and work of Jesus in simple, helpful terms. Bottom line: Payne doesn’t complicate the gospel presentation with too much information but just the right amount of content. This book can be read ahead of time and then discussed, or it can be read while you share a cup of coffee with a friend.

I hope you will make good use of this book with someone in 2024. Find someone you know who needs Jesus, read it with them, and simply ask them what they think. You don’t have to talk them into anything. Let the word of God do the work for you.

Take a Challenge for this Easter: As we move toward Resurrection Sunday, I want to challenge you to find someone with whom you have been wanting to share the good news of Jesus. Ask them if you may read this book together. I have ordered 100 copies of The Christian Gospel. Pick up your copy at the Welcome Center and read it with a friend.

If you want to purchase a copy, here’s where you can find this book:
