God, the Gospel, and the Gay Challenge — A Response to Matthew Vines

God, the Gospel, and the Gay Challenge — A Response to Matthew Vines

In this blog, Dr. Mohler is responding to Matthew Vines books, which says that in the Gospel God does not condemn monogamous homosexual relationships.  Wow!  The Woman Folly is crying out in the streets, on college campuses and in the media that a person can be a practicing homosexual and be Christian.

This is a lie.  We all struggle with sin and for some of us it might be the very difficult fight of homosexuality.  This struggle is deep and difficult, but the Bible never tells us that our struggle with sin will be easy.  Furthermore, there are others sins that are just as difficult.  I do not want to elevate one struggle over another.  The fight to resist alcohol, if you are an alcoholic, is just as hard.

Heb. 12 says that we have not resisted sin to the point of shedding out own blood.  This is where the fight with sin will take us.  Thankfully we have a Savior who resisted to that point and He, in His grace, gives us the strength to fight sin.  Also remember, in this struggle with sin eventually it will not feel like a fight.  Why?  Our joy is found in obedience.  So the struggle and fight against is a fight for our joy in Jesus.  Fight the good fight for the glory of God.

I hope you are enlightened by Dr. Mohler’s blog.
