Last November, we announced our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering goal of $7,500. We are grateful to God that your contributions now total $11,129, all of which will support the International Mission Board‘s overseas budget.
When our challenge goal was announced, we highlighted the budget shortfall of the IMB and requisite staff and missionary reduction (see this post). It is important to know that, in the face of budget shortfalls and the unfinished task of reaching the remaining 6,700 unreached people groups with the Gospel, the IMB’s response is not to ask for more money and reduce staff while continuing to do things as “they’ve always been done.”
We’d encourage you to read this interview—”One-on-One with the International Mission Board’s Executive Vice President“—on how the IMB’s strategy is changing and expanding in order to increase the number of pathways to send Southern Baptists to the mission field in our ever-changing, globalized world.
