Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Call to Worship
From Psalm 29:1-4, 10-11

Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.

The voice of the LORD is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
the LORD, over many waters.

The voice of the LORD is powerful;
the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

The LORD sits enthroned over the flood;
the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.

May the LORD give strength to his people!
May the LORD bless his people with peace!

Our Sung Call to Worship
Behold our God

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Confession
Based on Isaiah 28 (ESV)
O Lord, we have heard the Good News of your arrival
to reign as our crown of glory,
to bring justice in every judgment,
to be our strength in battle.

But we respond by intoxicating ourselves,
grasping as whatever temporary pleasure we can—
drunkenness and immorality,
social media and entertainment,
wealth building and financial security,
career advancement and political power—
indulging in escapism to postpone the hard reality
that this present world will soon pass away.

We cast aside the light of revelation
and the conviction of your Holy Spirit,
putting off right but difficult decisions
for irresponsible self-indulgence.

We show contempt toward those who confront our sin
and who reveal the truth through your Word.
We are insulted and resent rebuke;
we scoff and refuse to be taught.

We have not been like Isaiah, John the Baptist, or Jesus,
who exposed the hypocrisy of those in power.
Instead, for the sake of our own comfort,
we justify the appointment of unfit leaders
with a false separation of public and private morality.
We make covenants with death
out of cowardice and unfaithfulness,
caring more for what people can do for us
than what you call us to do for your glory.

But you are not mocked; corruption will not rule.
O Lord, demolish what is false
and direct us to our sure foundation.
Sweep away the refuge of lies
and grant us full confidence to wait for you.

Assurance and Peace

We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Remember the Gospel
From 1 Peter 1:3, 18-19; 2:4-6 (ESV)

Blessed by the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
According to his great mercy, he caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

You were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver and gold
but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

For it stands in Scripture:
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone,
a cornerstone chosen and precious,
and whoever believes in him
will not be put to shame.

Thanksgiving and Petition

We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.

We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.
On the first Sunday of each month we have two offerings—one for the general fund and a second one for the benevolence ministry of our church.

be in haste.’
