Pre-Service Song
Build My Life

Verse 1
Worthy of every song we could ever sing.
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring.
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe.
We live for You. We live for You.

Verse 2
Jesus, the name above every other name.
Jesus, the only one who could ever save.
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe.
We live for You. We live for You. (Chorus)

Chorus
Holy, there is no one like You,
there is none beside You.
Open up my eyes in wonder
and show me who you are
and fill me with Your heart
and lead me in Your love to those around me. (Repeat vs 2 & Chorus)

Bridge
I will build my life upon Your love;
it is a firm foundation.
I will put my trust in You alone,
and I will not be shaken. (Chorus)

Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Call to Worship
Adapted from Isaiah 43:9-15

Let us hear the words of the Lord
so that we may know and believe
and understand who he is:
Before me, there was no God formed,
Nor shall there be after me.
I, even I, am the Lord,
And besides me, there is no savior.

It is true, Lord. We are your witnesses.

I have declared and saved,
I have proclaimed,
and there was no foreign god among you.
Therefore you are my witnesses that I am God.
Indeed before the day was, I am he;
and there is no one who can deliver out of my hand;
I work, and who will reverse it?

It is true, Lord. We are your witnesses.

Our Sung Call to Worship
Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder

Verse 1
Let us love and sing and wonder,
Let us praise the Savior’s name.
He has hushed the law’s loud thunder,
He has quenched Mount Sinai’s flame.
He has washed us with His blood,
He has washed us with His blood,
He has washed us with His blood,
He has brought us nigh to God.

Verse 2
Let us love the Lord who bought us,
Pitied us when enemies,
Called us by His grace and taught us,
Gave us ears and gave us eyes.
He has washed us with His blood,
He has washed us with His blood,
He has washed us with His blood,
He presents our souls to God.

Verse 3
Let us sing though fierce temptation
Threatens hard to bear us down,
For the Lord, our strong salvation,
Holds in view the conqueror’s crown.
He who washed us with His blood,
He who washed us with His blood,
He who washed us with His blood,
Soon will bring us home to God.

Verse 4
Let us wonder grace and justice
Join and point to mercy’s store.
When through grace in Christ our trust is,
Justice smiles and asks no more.
He who washed us with His blood,
He who washed us with His blood,
He who washed us with His blood,
Has secured our way to God.

Verse 5
Let us praise and join the chorus
Of the saints enthroned on high.
Here they trusted Him before us,
Now their praises fill the sky.
Thou hast washed us with Thy blood,
Thou hast washed us with Thy blood,
Thou hast washed us with Thy blood,
Thou art worthy Lamb of God.

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Confession
Adapted from Isaiah 42:18-24

Who among you will give ear to this?
Who will listen and hear for the time to come?
Who gave Jacob for plunder and Israel to the robbers?
Was it not the Lord, he against Whom you have sinned?

We have not walked in His ways nor obeyed His law.
We have seen but not observed; listened but not heard.
Because of our sin, we are robbed and plundered,
Snared in holes and kept in prison.

Time of silent confession.

Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Remember the Gospel
Adapted from Isaiah 43:1-3

But now, thus says the Lord who created
and formed you,
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
you are mine.”

And when we pass through the waters,
you will be with us;
And through the rivers,
they shall not overflow us.
When we walk through the fire,
we shall not be burned
nor shall the flame scorch us.

“For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, Your Savior.”

Our Sung Profession of Assurance
The Power of the Cross

Verse 1
Oh to see the dawn of the darkest day:
Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men, torn and beaten, then
Nailed to a cross of wood. (Chorus 1)

Chorus 1
This the pow’r of the cross;
Christ became sin for us.
Took the blame, bore the wrath
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Verse 2
Oh to see the pain written on Your face,
Bearing the awesome weight of sin.
Ev’ry bitter thought, ev’ry evil deed
Crowning Your bloodstained brow. (Chorus 1)

Verse 3
Now the daylight flees, now the ground beneath
Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two, dead are raised to life
‘Finished!’ the vict’ry cry. (Chorus 1)

Verse 4
Oh to see my name written in the wounds,
For through Your suff’ring I am free.
Death is crushed to death, life is mine to live
Won through Your selfless love! (Chorus 2)

Chorus 2
This the pow’r of the cross
Son of God slain for us.
What a love, what a cost
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)

Verse 1
Amazing grace how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

Verse 2
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed! (Chorus)

Chorus
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free.
My God, my Savior has ransomed me.
And like a flood His mercy reigns,
Unending love, amazing grace.

Verse 3
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures. (Chorus)

Verse 4
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine,
Will be forever mine.
You are forever mine.

Thanksgiving and Petition

We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.

We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.
On the first Sunday of each month we have two offerings—one for the general fund and a second one for the benevolence ministry of our church.
You may give electronically at gabcames.org/giving/ or place your offering in the boxes at the back of the sanctuary or send a check in the mail.

Scripture Reading
Isaiah 42:18-43:13 (Only Isaiah 43:1-7 will be read)

18 “Listen, you deaf! Look, you blind, so that you may see.
19 Who is blind but my servant, or deaf like my messenger I am sending? Who is blind like my dedicated one, or blind like the servant of the LORD?
20 Though seeing many things, you pay no attention. Though his ears are open, he does not listen.”
21 Because of his righteousness, the LORD was pleased to magnify his instruction and make it glorious.
22 But this is a people plundered and looted, all of them trapped in holes or imprisoned in dungeons.
They have become plunder with no one to rescue them and loot, with no one saying, “Give it back!”
23 Who among you will hear this? Let him listen and obey in the future.
24 Who gave Jacob to the robber, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the LORD? Have we not sinned against him? They were not willing to walk in his ways, and they would not listen to his instruction.
25 So he poured out his furious anger and the power of war on Jacob. It surrounded him with fire, but he did not know it; it burned him, but he didn’t take it to heart.

43:1 Now this is what the LORD says— the one who created you, Jacob, and the one who formed you, Israel— “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you.
3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, and your Savior. I have given Egypt as a ransom for you, Cush and Seba in your place.
4 Because you are precious in my sight and honored, and I love you, I will give people in exchange for you and nations instead of your life.
5 Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west.
6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back!’ Bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the ends of the earth— 7 everyone who bears my name and is created for my glory. I have formed them; indeed, I have made them.”
8 Bring out a people who are blind, yet have eyes, and are deaf, yet have ears.
9 All the nations are gathered together, and the peoples are assembled. Who among them can declare this, and tell us the former things? Let them present their witnesses to vindicate themselves, so that people may hear and say, “It is true.”
10 “You are my witnesses”— this is the LORD’s declaration— “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. No god was formed before me, and there will be none after me. 11 I—I am the LORD. Besides me, there is no Savior. 12 I alone declared, saved, and proclaimed— and not some foreign god among you.
So you are my witnesses”— this is the LORD’s declaration— “and I am God.
13 Also, from today on I am he alone, and none can rescue from my power. I act, and who can reverse it?”

This is the word of the Lord.
The grass withers, and the flower falls,
but the word of the Lord endures forever.
