Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Call to Worship

Based on Psalm 100

1Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

3Know that the Lord is God.
it is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.

5For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Amen.

Our Sung Call to Worship

All People That on Earth Do Dwell

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Confession

Confession based on 1 Peter 1:13-19, 2:8, 3:1-7; Psalm 51:1-4; Revelation 22:17

Merciful God who judges all people impartially
You are holy and you have called us to be holy.

Father we confess that we are not holy.
Father we have not mourned over our sins,
Instead we have insulated ourselves from those around us,
From their pain, needs, loneliness, and suffering.

Father, You have made us a people for Your own possession.
You have called us to be a royal priesthood and a holy nation.

Have mercy on us, O God, according to Your steadfast love;
According to Your abundant mercy blot out our transgressions.
Wash us thoroughly from our iniquity, and cleanse us from our sin.

The Spirit says, “Let him who hears, Come! Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.”

Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy

Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Remember the Gospel

Colossians 2:13-14
13“And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.”

Thanksgiving and Petition

We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.

We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.

The Solid Rock

Scripture Reading
We hear the scripture text of the sermon read.
Colossians 2:6-15
6Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. 8See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. 9For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
