Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Call to Worship
Reading adapted from The Lords’ Supper Liturgy; Calvin Institute of Christian Worship

Lift up your hearts!

We lift our hearts to the Lord!

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God!

Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of Your glory.

Men: Hosanna in the highest.

Women: Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.

All: Hosanna in the highest!

Our Sung Call to Worship
Romans Doxology

Verse 1
Oh, the depth of the riches, the wisdom of God,
How unsearchable are His ways.
How profound are His judgements,
So high above our thoughts,
And His pathways no man can trace. (Chorus)

Chorus
For from Him and through Him,
And to Him are all things.
To Him be glory for-ever-more.
To Him be glory for-ev-er
A-men! A-men! A—men!

Verse 2
Oh, the depth of the riches, the wisdom of God,
How magnificent are His ways.
Who has been His advisor
And who has counseled Him,
All He gives us who can repay? (Chorus)

Verse 3
Oh, the depth of the riches, the wisdom of God,
How immeasurable is His grace.
How unfailing His kindness,
So far removed His wrath,
And His mercies are new each day. (Chorus)

Words and Music by John Elliott

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Confession
Adapted from Matthew Henry’s Whole Bible Commentary

The children of God proclaimed “Hosanna in the highest” one moment, and were ready to crucify Christ shortly after. So our rebel hearts turn traitor after even our most ardent devotions. But there is hope when we cry to the Lord for help, and lament our ungodliness as well as our more open transgressions.

Take a few moments to think back over your week. Confess what the Holy Spirit brings to mind.

(Moment of silence)

Holy and merciful God,

in your presence we confess our sinfulness,
our shortcomings,
and our offenses against you.

You alone know how often we have sinned
in wandering from your ways,
in wasting your gifts,
in forgetting your love.

Have mercy on us, O Lord, for we are ashamed
and sorry for all we have done to displease you.

Forgive our sins,
and help us to live in your light,
and walk in your ways,
for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior.

Amen.

Our Sung Confession
Come Ye Sinners Poor and Needy

Verse 1
Come, ye sinners, poor and needy,
Weak and wounded, sick and sore;
Jesus ready stands to save you,
Full of pity, love and pow’r. (Chorus)

Chorus
I will arise and go to Jesus,
He will embrace me in His arms;
In the arms of my dear Savior,
O there are ten thousand charms.

Verse 2
Come ye thirsty, come, and welcome,
God’s free bounty glorify;
True belief and true repentance,
Ev’ry grace that brings you nigh. (Chorus)

Verse 3
Come, ye weary, heavy laden,
Lost and ruined by the fall;
If you tarry till you’re better,
You will never come at all. (Chorus)

Verse 4
Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requireth
Is to feel your need of Him. (Chorus)

Words by Joseph Hart
Music by Walker’s Southern Harmony, 1835

Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Remember the Gospel
If the Lord sees that we trust in His mercy,
and accept His salvation;
that we confess our secret lusts and continue not in rebellion,
but endeavor to serve and glorify Him;
we may be sure that He looks upon us as accepted in Christ,
that His blood pardons all our sins.

Oh, the wonders of providence and grace!

How complete is Christ’s redeeming love and pardoning mercy!

What a gift is the Spirit implanted in our souls!

Our Sung Profession of Assurance
We Will Feast

Chorus
We will feast in the house of Zion.
We will sing with our hearts restored.
“He has done great things,”
We will say together.
We will feast and weep no more.

Verse 1
We will not be burned by the fire,
He is the Lord our God.
We are not consumed by the flood—
Upheld, protected, gathered up. (Chorus)

Verse 2
In the dark of night before the dawn,
My soul be not afraid.
For the promised morning, o how long!
O God of Jacob be my strength. (Chorus)

Verse 3
Every vow we’ve broken and betrayed—
You are the faithful one.
And from the garden to the grave
Bind us together, bring shalom. (Chorus)

Words and Music by Sandra McCracken and Joshua Moore

The Lord’s Supper

Our Lord Jesus Christ graciously invites his believing and baptized church to his table,
to come and share in this joyful feast.

Church, why do we come to this table?

We come to this table because of Jesus’ command and invitation.

In remembrance of Him,
Jesus tells us to eat this broken bread
and to drink this cup in true faith
and to keep doing so until He comes again.

How is this meal different from all others?

In this supper, God tells us that our sins have been completely forgiven
through the one sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross
where His body was broken and His blood was shed.

God also tells us that the Holy Spirit makes us one with Christ,
and, in Christ, one with all other Christians.

Why do we eat the bread?

The bread which we break is a sharing in the body of Christ.

We remember and believe that the body of our Lord Jesus Christ
was given for the complete forgiveness of all our sins.

We remember Christ’s broken body as we take the bread, break it and say together:

This is Christ’s body, broken for us.

Why do we drink the cup?

The cup for which we give thanks, is a sharing in the blood of Christ.

We remember and believe that the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ
was shed for the complete forgiveness of our sins.

We remember Christ’s blood poured out as we drink the cup.
Let us repeat together:

This is Christ’s blood, shed for us.

We give thanks together:

For your kindness to us and your goodness to all, we give you thanks.

We thank you that you showed your love by sending your Son,
who gave His life for us and rose again from death,
and lives to intercede for us forever.

We are thankful that you have torn down the wall of separation,
making us friends with you and with one another.

We thank you that you have brought us together at this table
to strengthen us with your love.

Through your Holy Spirit, cause us now
to know Christ’s presence,
to be His faithful followers,
and to show your love for the world.

Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honor is yours, Almighty Father,
now and forever.

Amen.

Thanksgiving and Petition

We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.

We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.
On the first Sunday of each month we have two offerings—one for the general fund and a second one for the benevolence ministry of our church.
You may give electronically at gabcames.org/giving/ or place your offering in the boxes at the back of the sanctuary or send a check in the mail.

Scripture Reading
Jude 1-25
1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James,
To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ:
2 May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.
3 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
5 Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day— 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
8 Yet in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones. 9 But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.” 10 But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively. 11 Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion. 12 These are hidden
reefs at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, shepherds feeding themselves; waterless clouds, swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.
14 It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, 15 to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” 16 These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage.
17 But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 18 They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” 19 It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.
24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

This the Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!

Sending
Having heard and confessed the Gospel, we are sent into the world on mission in Christ, which we express in both song and spoken word.

Blessing
From Jude 24-25 (CSB)

Now to him who is able to protect you from stumbling
and to make you stand in the presence of his glory,
without blemish and with great joy,
to the only God our Savior,

be glory, majesty, power,
and authority before all time,
now and forever.

Amen.
