Reflection
Jesus loves me—this I know,
For the Bible tells me so:
Little ones to him belong,—
They are weak, but he is strong

Jesus loves me—he who died
Heaven’s gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let his little child come in.

Jesus loves me—loves me still,
Though I’m very weak and ill;
From his shining throne on high,
Comes to watch me where I lie.

Jesus loves me—he will stay
Close beside me all the way.
Then his little child will take
Up to heaven for his dear sake.

Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Call to Worship
Isaiah 40:12-31

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
and weighed the mountains in scales
and the hills in a balance?

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.

It is he who sits enthroned above the circle of the earth.
He who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
and spreads them like a tent to dwell in.

Lift us your eyes on high and see who created these!

Our Sung Call to Worship
Behold Our God

Verse 1
Who has held the oceans in His hands?
Who has numbered every grain of sand?
Kings and nations tremble at His voice.
All creation rises to rejoice.

Verse 2
Who has given counsel to the Lord?
Who can question any of His words?
Who can teach the One who knows all things?
Who can fathom all His wondrous deeds? (Chorus)

Chorus
Behold our God, seated on His throne.
Come, let us adore Him.
Behold our King, nothing can compare,
Come, let us adore Him!

Verse 3
Who has felt the nails upon His hands,
Bearing all the guilt of sinful man?
God eternal, humbled to the grave,
Jesus, Savior, risen now to reign! (Chorus)

Bridge
You will reign forever. (Let your glory fill the earth.)
You will reign forever. (Let your glory fill the earth.)
You will reign forever. (Let your glory fill the earth.)
You will reign forever. (Chorus)

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Confession
Psalm 51 (NIV)

Have mercy on us, O God, according to your unfailing love.
Wash away all our iniquity and cleanse us from our sin.

Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight.
Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me.

Time of silent confession.

Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Remember the Gospel
Philippians 2:8, 3:3 (NIV)

Let us not boast in the flesh, but boast only in Christ
who bled and died for the sins of many.

Humbling himself by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross—
he has reconciled us to himself!

But death could not hold him!
On the third day, at break of dawn,
the Son of heaven rose again,
proclaiming power over sin and death.

Praise the name of the Lord:
For endless days we will sing his praise!

Our Sung Profession of Assurance
O Praise the Name (Distribution Song)

Verse 1
I cast my mind to Calvary,
Where Jesus bled and died for me.
I see His wounds, His hands, His feet.
My Saviour on that cursed tree.

Verse 2
His body bound and drenched in tears.
They laid Him down in Joseph’s tomb.
The entrance sealed by heavy stone.
Messiah still and all alone. (Chorus 1 A)

Chorus 1 A
O praise the Name of the Lord our God.
O praise His Name forevermore.
For endless days we will sing Your praise.
Oh Lord, oh Lord, our God.

Verse 3
Then on the third at break of dawn,
The Son of heaven rose again.
O trampled death where is your sting?
The angels roar for Christ the King. (Chorus 1 A)

Verse 4
He shall return in robes of white.
The blazing sun shall pierce the night.
And I will rise among the saints,
My gaze transfixed on Jesus’ face. (Chorus 1 A, Chorus 1B)

Chorus 1B
O praise the Name of the Lord our God.
O praise His Name forevermore.
For endless days we will sing Your praise.
Oh Lord, oh Lord, our God.
Oh Lord, oh Lord, our God.
Oh Lord, oh Lord, our God.

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper

My Worth is Not in What I Own

Verse 1
My worth is not in what I own,
not in the strength of flesh and bone;
but in the costly wounds of love
at the cross.

Verse 2
My worth is not in skill or name,
in win or lose, in pride or shame;
but in the blood of Christ that flowed
at the cross. (Chorus)

Chorus
I rejoice in my Redeemer, greatest treasure,
well spring of my soul.
I will trust in Him, no other.
My soul is satisfied in Him alone.

Verse 3
As summer flow’rs we fade and die;
fame, youth and beauty hurry by,
but life eternal calls to us
at the cross.

Verse 4
I will not boast in wealth or might,
or human wisdom’s fleeting light;
but I will boast in knowing Christ
at the cross. (Chorus)

Verse 5
Two wonders here that I confess:
my worth and my unworthiness.
My value fixed, my ransom paid
at the cross. (Chorus 2 X’s)

Thanksgiving and Petition

We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.

We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.
On the first Sunday of each month we have a Mission Moment to highlight the different missions giving opportunities we have at Grand. Members are encouraged to give to GABC Missions to support these missions.
You may give electronically at gabcames.org/giving/ or place your offering in the boxes at the back of the sanctuary or send a check in the mail.

Scripture Reading
Isaiah 40:12-31
12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand or marked off the heavens with the span of his hand? Who has gathered the dust of the earth in a measure or weighed the mountains on a balance and the hills on the scales?
13 Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, or who gave him counsel?
14 Who did he consult? Who gave him understanding
and taught him the paths of justice? Who taught him knowledge and showed him the way of understanding?
15 Look, the nations are like a drop in a bucket;
they are considered as a speck of dust on the scales;
he lifts up the islands like fine dust.
16 Lebanon’s cedars are not enough for fuel,
or its animals enough for a burnt offering.
17 All the nations are as nothing before him; they are considered by him as empty nothingness.
18 With whom will you compare God?
What likeness will you set up for comparison with him?
19 An idol?—something that a smelter casts
and a metalworker plates with gold
and makes silver chains for?
20 A poor person contributes wood for a pedestal
that will not rot.
He looks for a skilled craftsman to set up an idol that will not fall over.
21 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
Has it not been declared to you from the beginning?
Have you not considered the foundations of the earth?
22 God is enthroned above the circle of the earth;
its inhabitants are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like thin cloth
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
23 He reduces princes to nothing
and makes judges of the earth like a wasteland.
24 They are barely planted, barely sown,
their stem hardly takes root in the ground
when he blows on them and they wither,
and a whirlwind carries them away like stubble.
25 “To whom will you compare me,
or who is my equal?” asks the Holy One.
26 Look up and see! Who created these?
He brings out the stars by number;
he calls all of them by name.
Because of his great power and strength,
not one of them is missing.
27 Jacob, why do you say, and Israel, why do you assert,
“My way is hidden from the LORD,
and my claim is ignored by my God”?
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the whole earth.
He never becomes faint or weary;
there is no limit to his understanding.
29 He gives strength to the faint
and strengthens the powerless.
30 Youths may become faint and weary,
and young men stumble and fall,
31 but those who trust in the LORD
will renew their strength;
they will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not become weary,
they will walk and not faint.

This is the word of the Lord.
The grass withers, and the flower falls,
but the word of the Lord endures forever.
