Pre-service Song
Come Adore the Humble King

Verse 1
Come adore the humble King,
lowly in the manger;
Fall before His majesty,
Hail the little Savior.
Hope what hope no tongue could tell,
God has come with us to dwell;
His name is Emmanuel,
O praise the humble King.

Verse 2
Come adore in humble state,
He the song of angels;
Join the wise who call His name
and with all creation.
Who oh who would condescend,
God unknown now calls us friend;
Love that none could comprehend,
O praise the humble King.

Verse 3
Come adore the King who came
to our world to save us;
Born to heal our prideful race,
crown us with forgiveness.
Fall oh fall before the One
who in mercy left His throne.
Christ, the Lord, God’s only Son;
His glories now we sing,
O praise the humble King.

Tag
Come adore, come adore, come adore the King.
Bow before, come adore the Name above all names. (Repeat)

Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Call to Worship
Isaiah 48:12-14, 16, 17

Lift up your hearts!

We lift them up to the Lord!

Listen to Me, O Jacob,
And Israel, My called;
I am He, I am the First,
I am also the Last.
Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth,
And My right hand has stretched out the heavens;
When I call to them,
They stand up together.

As Israel of old, we wait for You, our Lord and Savior.

Come near to Me, hear this:
I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;
From the time that it was, I was there.
And now the Lord God and His Spirit have sent Me.

We wait for You, our Lord and Savior.

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,
The Holy One of Israel;
I am the Lord your God,
Who teaches you to profit,
Who leads You by the way you should go.

We wait for You, our Lord and Savior.

Our Sung Call to Worship
Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming

Verse 1
Lo, how a Rose e’er blooming
From tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse’s lineage coming
As men of old have sung.
It came, a flower bright,
Amid the cold of winter,
When half-gone was the night.

Verse 2
Isaiah ‘twas foretold it,
The Rose I have in mind:
With Mary we behold it,
The virgin mother kind.
To show God’s love aright
She bore to men a Savior,
When half-gone was the night.

Verse 3
This Flow’r, whose fragrance tender
With sweetness fills the air,
Dispels with glorious splendor,
The darkness ev’rywhere.
True man, yet very God,
From sin and death He saves us,
And lightens ev’ry load.

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Confession
Isaiah 48:4, 8

Hear the word of the Lord!
Listen, you peoples.
I knew you were obstinate,
And your neck was an iron sinew, your brow bronze.
Surely you did not hear,
Surely you did not know,
Surely from long ago your ear was not opened.
For I knew that you would deal very treacherously,
And were called a transgressor from the womb.

What you say is true.
We have stopped our ears from Your voice
and turned our backs on Your commandments.
We have gone our own way.

Soften our hearts for we long to return to You, our Lord and Savior.
Turn Your anger from us and forgive us, O Lord our Redeemer.

Time of silent confession.

Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Remember the Gospel
Isaiah 48:9. 20

For my name’s sake I will defer My anger,
And for My praise I will restrain it from you
So that I do not cut you off.

We wait for you, our Lord and Savior,
undeserving of Your mercy and worthy of Your wrath.

Go forth with a voice of singing,
Declare, proclaim this,
Utter it to the end of the earth;
Say, “The Lord has redeemed His servant Jacob.”

We say it gladly! The Lord has redeemed his servants!
Blessed be the Name of the Lord!

King of Kings

Verse 1
In the darkness we were waiting
Without hope, without light,
Till from heaven You came running,
There was mercy in Your eyes.

To fulfill the law and prophets,
To a virgin came the Word,
From a throne of endless glory,
To a cradle in the dirt. (Chorus)

Chorus
Praise the Father,
Praise the Son,
Praise the Spirit, three in one.
God of Glory, Majesty,
Praise forever to the King of Kings

Verse 2
To reveal the kingdom coming
And to reconcile the lost,
To redeem the whole creation,
You did not despise the cross.

For even in Your suffering,
You saw to the other side.
Knowing this was our salvation,
Jesus, for our sake You died. (Chorus)

Verse 3
And the morning that You rose,
All of heaven held its breath,
Till that stone was moved for good,
For the Lamb had conquered death.

And the dead rose from their tombs,
And the angels stood in awe,
For the souls of all who’d come,
To the Father are restored.

Verse 4
And the Church of Christ was born,
Then the Spirit lit the flame.
Now this Gospel truth of old,
Shall not kneel, shall not faint.

By his blood and in His name,
In His freedom I am free
For the love of Jesus Christ,
Who has resurrected me. (Chorus 2X’s)

Ending
Praise forever to the King of Kings.

Thanksgiving and Petition

We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.

We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.

On the first Sunday of each month we have a Mission Moment to highlight the different missions giving opportunities we have at Grand. Members are encouraged to give to GABC Missions to support these missions.

You may give electronically at gabcames.org/giving/ or place your offering in the boxes at the back of the sanctuary or send a check in the mail.

Scripture Reading
Isaiah 48 (Only Isaiah 48:10-19 will be read)
1 “Listen to this, house of Jacob—those who are called by the name Israel and have descended from Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD
and declare the God of Israel, but not in truth or righteousness.
2 For they are named after the holy city, and lean on the God of Israel; his name is the LORD of Armies.
3 I declared the past events long ago; they came out of my mouth; I proclaimed them. Suddenly I acted, and they occurred.
4 Because I know that you are stubborn, and your neck is iron and your forehead bronze, 5 therefore I declared to you long ago. I announced it to you before it occurred, so you could not claim, ‘My idol caused them; my carved image and cast idol control them.’
6 You have heard it. Observe it all. Will you not acknowledge it? From now on I will announce new things to you, hidden things that you have not known.
7 They have been created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today, so you could not claim, ‘I already knew them!’
8 You have never heard; you have never known; for a long time your ears have not been open. For I knew that you were very treacherous, and were known as a rebel from birth.
9 I will delay my anger for the sake of my name, and I will restrain myself for your benefit and for my praise, so that you will not be destroyed.
10 Look, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.
11 I will act for my own sake, indeed, my own, for how can I be defiled? I will not give my glory to another.
12 “Listen to me, Jacob, and Israel, the one called by me: I am he; I am the first, I am also the last.
13 My own hand founded the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I summoned them, they stood up together.
14 All of you, assemble and listen! Who among the idols has declared these things? The LORD loves him; he will accomplish his will against Babylon, and his arm will be against the Chaldeans.
15 I—I have spoken; yes, I have called him; I have brought him, and he will succeed in his mission.
16 Approach me and listen to this. From the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time anything existed, I was there.” And now the Lord GOD has sent me and his Spirit.
17 This is what the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: I am the LORD your God, who teaches you for your benefit, who leads you in the way you should go.
18 If only you had paid attention to my commands. Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
19 Your descendants would have been as countless as the sand, and the offspring of your body like its grains; their name would not be cut off or eliminated from my presence.
20 Leave Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans! Declare with a shout of joy, proclaim this, let it go out to the end of the earth; announce, “The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob!”
21 They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow from the rock for them; he split the rock, and water gushed out.
22 “There is no peace for the wicked,” says the LORD.

This is the word of the Lord.
The grass withers, and the flower falls,
but the word of the Lord endures forever.

Sending Song
Joy to the World

Verse 1
Joy to the world! The Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King;
Let ev’ry heart prepare Him room,
And heav’n and nature sing,
And heav’n and nature sing,
And heav’n, and heav’n and nature sing.

Verse 2
Joy to the earth! The Savior reigns;
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

Verse 3
No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as the curse is found.

Verse 4
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders of His love
