The Glory of Our God (This is Jesus)
Who is this, who from all eternity
dwelt above in majesty,
made the earth, the sky, and sea?
Who is this, who the ancient chaos tamed,
made the stars and gave them names
formed a people for his fame?
This is Jesus-the Beginning and the End,
this is Jesus-our Creator and our Friend.
He gave us breath and took on flesh that we could walk with him.
This is Jesus-the glory of our God.
Who is this, who when captive Israel cried,
heard from his throne on high
and refused to let them die?
Who is this, who has paid redemption’s price
through a spotless sacrifice
giving freedom, joy, and life?
This is Jesus-the merciful “I AM”
this is Jesus-the slain and risen Lamb.
Our ev’ry sin was borne by him that we could live again.
This is Jesus-the glory of our God.
Who is this, who took Israel by the hand,
brought them to the promised land
that his covenant might stand?
Who is this, who will bring his people home,
the redeemed before the throne,
ever gathered as his own?
This is Jesus-the Faithful and the True,
this is Jesus-He is making all things new.
Our praise we bring to the King of kings, forever we will sing.
Beginning, end, Creator, Friend, the Slain and Risen Lamb.
The Faithful, True makes all things new, the merciful “I AM.”
This is Jesus, the glory of our God.
This is Jesus, the glory of our God.
This is Jesus, the glory of our God.

Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.
Our Spoken Call to Worship
Psalm 121 (ESV)
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.
Our Sung Call to Worship
Psalm 121
I lift my eyes up to the hills,
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your feet slip,
His right hand never leaves you
He who keeps you never slumbers nor sleeps.
Chorus
He watches over you,
Like a shade from the sun by day and the moon by night
He watches over you,
No evil can ever invade the covering of Yahweh.
(Repeat All)
When you go out, when you come in, He watches over You.
Today and forevermore, He never leaves You. (2 X’s)
(Chorus)

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.
Our Spoken Confession
Psalm 51:1-4, 7-9 (CSB)
Be gracious to me, God,
according to your faithful love;
according to your abundant compassion,
blot out my rebellion.
Completely wash away my guilt
and cleanse me from my sin.
For I am conscious of my rebellion,
and my sin is always before me.
Against you—you alone—I have sinned
and done this evil in your sight.
So you are right when you pass sentence;
you are blameless when you judge.
Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Turn your face away from my sins
and blot out all my guilt.
This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ,
our crucified and risen Lord. Amen.
Time of silent confession.
Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.
Remember the Gospel
Ephesians 2:4-10 (CSB)
Remember the Gospel!
God, who is rich in mercy,
because of his great love that he had for us,
made us alive with Christ
even though we were dead in trespasses.
You are saved by grace!
He also raised us up with him and seated us with him
in the heavens in Christ Jesus,
so that in the coming ages he might display
the immeasurable riches of his grace
through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
For you are saved by grace through faith,
and this is not from yourselves;
it is God’s gift — not from works,
so that no one can boast.
For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.
Our Sung Profession of Assurance
All Gone (Distribution Song)
Sins against the Holy One,
Sins against his loving Son,
Sins against his law we’ve done.
Sins against both God and man,
Sins that we have boldly planned,
Sins outnumbering the sand—
What grace! No trace remains.
Chorus
They’re all gone, all gone.
Far as the east is from the west,
Into the ocean they are cast.
They’re all gone, all gone.
He has removed our ev’ry debt,
Covered our shame and our regret,
They’re all gone.
All the justice we deserved,
All the punishment we earned,
Holy wrath without reserve,
Poured upon the righteous one,
Once for all the work is done,
Now the victory is won.
What grace! No trace remains. (Chorus 2 X’s)

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper
Before the Throne of God Above
Before the throne of God above,
I have a strong and perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is Love,
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands.
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in heav’n He stands,
No tongue can bid me thence depart,
No tongue can bid me thence depart.
When Satan tempts me to despair,
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there,
Who made an end to all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died,
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God, the Just, is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me,
To look on Him and pardon me.
Behold Him there, the risen Lamb!
My perfect, spotless righteousness.
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of Glory and of Grace.
One with Himself, I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood.
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ, my Savior and my God,
With Christ, my Savior and my God.
One with Himself, I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood.
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ, my Savior and my God,
With Christ, my Savior and my God.

Thanksgiving and Petition
We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.
We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.
On the first Sunday of each month we have a Mission Moment to highlight the different missions giving
opportunities we have at Grand. Members are encouraged to give to GABC Missions to support these missions.
You may give electronically at gabcames.org/giving/ or place your offering in the boxes at the back of the sanctuary or send a check in the mail.
Scripture Reading
Matthew 8:18-27 (CSB)
18 When Jesus saw a large crowd around him, he gave the order to go to the other side of the sea.
19 A scribe approached him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”
20 Jesus told him, “Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”
21 “Lord,” another of his disciples said, “first let me go bury my father.”
22 But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
23 As he got into the boat, his disciples followed him.
24 Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves—but Jesus kept sleeping. 25 So the disciples came and woke him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to die!”
26 He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey him!”
This is the word of the Lord.
The grass withers and the flower falls
but the word of the Lord endures forever.

Blessing
Hebrews 13:20-21 (CSB)
Now may the God of peace,
who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus—
the great Shepherd of the sheep—
through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
equip you with everything good to do his will,
working in us what is pleasing in his sight,
through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.
Amen.
