Call To Worship
We confess the supremacy of God in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Call to Worship
Adapted from Psalm 3 & 4

Salvation belongs to our Lord!
Let your blessings be on Your people!

You, Lord, are the shield around us,
our glory and the lifter of our heads!

Let your blessings be on Your people!

You, Lord, sustain us when we lie down and sleep;
we are not afraid for You keep vigilance over us!

Let your blessings be on Your people!

You, Lord, answer when we call, free us from affliction,
and set us apart for Yourself!

Salvation belongs to our Lord!
Let your blessings be on Your people!

Our Sung Call to Worship
Is He Worthy?

Confession
We confess our need for mercy through both responsive reading and song.

Our Spoken Confession
Adapted from Matthew Henry’s commentary on Leviticus 4.

Gracious Father, we stand before you sinners.

We have sinned in ignorance,
committing acts against You
without realizing our offense.

We have sinned against You blatantly;
knowing You were watching,
yet undeterred in our guilty pleasure.

Forgive us.

Forgive us for sinning with our Bible in our hands,
caught up in our pride, sloth, and carelessness.

May we learn to hate sin and to watch against it.
May we seek to value Christ, the great and true Sin-offering,
whose blood cleanses us from all sin.

Let us seek frequent self-examination,
serious study of Your Word,
and earnest prayer.
Holy Spirit, help us to detect our ignorant and blatant sins,
that we may repent and obtain forgiveness
through the blood of Christ, our precious Savior.

Silent Prayer and Confession of Sin

Assurance and Peace
We profess our assurance of salvation and peace in Christ through both responsive reading and song.

Remember the Gospel
Adapted from Matthew Henry’s commentary on Numbers 6.

Hear this, beloved of God:

You are blessed in the name of the Lord.
You have been brought under the mighty protection
of God our Savior.
You enjoy His favor and His smile as a loving Father.
He mercifully forgives your sins, supplies your wants,
consoles your hearts and prepares you by
His grace for eternal glory.
Expect blessings from the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the love of the Father and the communion of the
Holy Spirit.

Thank you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit for so great
a list of mercies.
We are humbled before You and eternally grateful.

Thanksgiving and Petition

We Give Thanks in Prayer and Offer Petitions to God
We express our gratitude to God our Father for Christ’s work on the cross for us and bring our requests before him. In bringing our requests, we confess that we believe God truly is a good father, who cares about our needs and gives us what he knows is best.

We Give Thanks by Giving
We give financial offerings to support the work of the church because of our gratitude to God. By giving we confess we are trusting in God’s provision for us as well.
On the first Sunday of each month we have two offerings—one for the general fund and a second one for the benevolence ministry of our church.
You may give electronically here or place your offering in the boxes at the back of the sanctuary or send a check in the mail.

Scripture Reading
1 Peter 1:3-12 (ESV)

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. 12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.

This is the Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!

Sending
Having heard and confessed the Gospel, we are sent into the world on mission in Christ, which we express in both song and spoken word.

Sending Song
Crown Him with Many Crowns

Blessing

This week may you be as the prophets of old,
carefully searching the Scriptures,
inquiring to know more of the sufferings of Christ
and the glories crowned upon Him.
May it lead you to a gratefulness and obedience
that displays itself in a life of surrender.
